I just started juicing myself. You can use anything pretty much. I would highly recommend that you buy a book on juicing. I can give you some tips to get you started.
First, apples are kinda the like the “sugar’ of juicing. They can be mixed with both veggies and fruits. And they will sweeten all your juices. Second, all your green leafy juices have to be diluted. Use carrot juice or other milder veggie juice to dilute them like cucumbers. It is because in their concentrated form they can be toxic and wreak havoc on your body. Third, go easy on the fruit juices if you are sensitive to sugar or overweight because although it is all natural, it is still sugar. Fourth and last, if you can’t buy organic, get some Fit Vegetable wash and wash all your produce before juicing.
Try these recipes to get you started.
    This one is my fave:
    Handful of spinach
    One Apple
3-5 carrots. You can’t taste the spinach. it is awesome..very sweet. Don’t be put off by the appearance.
    Try this one too:
    One Orange
    One Apple
    Some Strawberries
    Some Pineapple
This one is like a tropical vacation in a glass!
I hope it goes well for you! Happy Juicing!
